monday bake day.

so as it turns out our weekend was pretty uneventful. there was some excitement that maybe we had won twenty-five thousand dollars, or a brand new car (insert jumping up and down here)!! unfortunately, our silly mail scratcher only had three of the seven numbers we needed to be rolling around naked in twenty-five thousand one dollar bills today. amid the tiny amount of disappointment we don't have a fat bank account today, i decided to surprise husband with some cupcakes. he's been asking me to make them for a week now, and not to toot my own horn here, but they are certainly delicious!

hello friday.

i haven't spent much time out of my pj's the past few days, so yesterday i decided to take some initiative and do a little diy project. we had a bunch of 2$ silver painted frames laying around, so i whipped out fresh paint, got to work, and here's how they turned out.

hopefully husband will help me hang them this weekend, we're lacking some personal touches in this rental of ours.
here's that really cute free printable, 'what i love most about my home'

christmas in june.

lately i've been doing a lot of thinking about christmas time. mostly because i have a lot of free time on my hands these days, but also because it will be our first little christmas without our families. so i've been gathering ideas, and putting together a christmas wish list. i also started work on a possible christmas card, and got a steal on some ribbon from michaels!

unofficial christmas list 2011
1. bakers twine   2. camera strap   3. rocking chair   4. wooden mixing spoons   5. & 6. japanese washi tape

packaging ideas
1. rue magazine  (going clockwise, 2, 3, and 5 i found on pinterest and do not have links for!)  4. inspire lovely

all of this snazzy ribbon here only cost me 17$.

adventures in antiquing.

husband and i spent some time in downtown olympia this weekend perusing antique shops for a dresser. what we ended up with however, is a small collection of vintage cameras, a winter hat for me, and 'spy meets spy' by frederick frost. oh! we also came home with our first parking ticket! turns out they take their parking fees prreettyy serious. even though we didn't find what we were looking for, we had loads of fun, and we can't wait to go back for some christmas shopping.

dreaming of a bicycle.

i've been offered the gift of a bicycle! husbands car is still in arizona, and i'm craving a mode of transportation. i can already picture the morning rides to starbucks, and the afternoon trips to michaels (don't tell husband)! yay!
so we took a trip to some bike shops in town today... i learned a few things. 1. trust the reviews you read, when someone says 'i felt unwelcome,' or  'skip this joint unless your a trustafarian,' listen to them. 2. bike shops are 'for bike enthusiasts,' and not for someone who wants to spend under 200$. and finally 3. bikes are really expensive.
i found the bike i want i did, and it was 425$. then i found the next bike i really wanted, and it was 750$. i haven't given up hope just yet, i will find the bike of my dreams!!!!!!!!

weekend snaps.

husband and i spent some quality time around town this past weekend. we haven't done much exploring since we moved in, and we thought it was about time that we get out of the house. here's how it went... we ate giant plates of mexican food at the mayan cantina, husband picked out his 'hello kitty' christmas present, we saw 'midnight in paris' (go and see this movie if you haven't, it was incredible!) at the theater, and finished off the evening with some cold stone. all in all it was a wonderful saturday!

moving in.

we spent our first night in the new house with only a single pillow, a blanket, 2 kitties, a laptop, and a dvd of 'i love you phillip morris.' i learned one thing that night, husband is a pillow stealer.

we finally made a decent trip to the grocery store so that we could make yummy things like, crispy chicken taco salad, and cookies!

my shoes ended up taking over the closet in the master, but luckily the office closet was just waiting to have something hung in it.

it's been exactly 18 days...
this move has been good for us,
and so far, we're really happy here.
